Nutmeg Yoga LLC’s mission is to connect people to Connecticut’s natural spaces with guided free yoga hikes. It’s led by Nicole Diaz, a Latinx Texan-turned-Nutmegger, whose given herself the title “Trail-Guide Yogi”. Nicole organizes hikes that incorporate yoga, meditation, trail-specific history, awareness of conservation efforts, and education on seasonal flora and wildlife activity. Nicole believes yoga and the outdoors should be accessible to all because both help build a stronger mind, body and spirit of resilience to meet life’s challenges with one breath at a time. Wanting to share her love of yoga with everyone, she completed the 200-hour power yoga teacher training under Barbara Ruzansky at West Hartford Yoga and Wilderness First Aid through Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO) in New Hampshire. Nicole holds 200-RYT Yoga Alliance certification, American Red Cross CPR certification and is pursuing independent study as a Connecticut Master Naturalist. Off the mat, Nicole volunteers on the Board of Farmington Land Trust and can be found outdoors with husband and Boston Terrier @senorita_binx , cooking for friends, gardening, or exploring the CT beer/wine trail.
